Mission in Motion

How Your Donations Make a Difference

At Recycling Society, we believe in transparency and showing you exactly how your generous contributions are transforming communities and fostering a love for recycling in the next generation. Every dollar you donate directly fuels our mission, creating tangible impact and lasting behavioral change.
Here's a breakdown of how your donations are spent:

Incentivizing Recycling Efforts

Your donation is an investment in a sustainable future. The more aluminum cans schools recycle, the more money they raise for their educational needs. More importantly, students become lifelong recyclers, understanding the value of every can and its positive impact on the planet. Your support creates a ripple effect: students and the wider community actively start looking for cans to recycle, transforming waste into valuable resources and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

Every $1 you donate to the Recycling Society creates behavioral change, empowering young minds and building a cleaner, greener world, one can at a time.

Books

The Girl Who Recycled 1 Million Cans Book: For every 2nd or 3rd-grade student at participating schools, we provide a free copy of The Girl Who Recycled 1 Million Cans, available in both English and Spanish. The school can choose the grade level they feel is the best fit for their students. This inspiring book, valued at $8 per copy, sparks imagination and teaches children the power of recycling. It's the foundation of our educational outreach, encouraging students to become recycling superheroes.

Pizza Parties

Pizza Party Reward: When the 2nd or 3rd-grade students at a school collectively recycle 75,000 aluminum cans, they earn a well-deserved pizza party! These students serve as the aluminum can recycling superheroes, motivating their entire school and community to join the effort. This fun incentive, budgeted at approximately $4 per student, celebrates their leadership and hard work, reinforcing the positive impact of their recycling efforts and encouraging teamwork and environmental stewardship.

Ice Cream Parties

Ice Cream Party Milestone: To keep the momentum going, 2nd or 3rd-grade classes that reach their October recycling milestone are rewarded with an ice cream party. These recycling superheroes lead the charge in the early part of the contest, and this sweet celebration recognizes their effort while motivating them—and the whole school—to keep recycling throughout the year.

Bonus Money

Schools that demonstrate exceptional dedication by recycling 150,000 cans receive a $500 bonus. This financial incentive directly supports the school, allowing them to invest in resources that further benefit their students and educational environment.

Equipping Recycling Champions

Millions of cans end up in landfills while schools struggle for funding. Your donation solves both problems, turning recycling into educational resources and creating a generation of young environmental leaders.

Recycling Superhero Capes

Can Recycling Superhero Capes: We provide two “Can Recycling Superhero” capes per 2nd or 3rd-grade class, depending on which grade the school selects to lead their recycling efforts. These capes are awarded to the designated “Can Captains,” who help rally their classmates, the entire school, and even the community to collect more cans. The capes symbolize their leadership and commitment to protecting the planet through recycling.
